Class-12 UNIT-5 Children and Women in Sports-Adolescence and Adulthood Growth and Development

  Adolescence Growth and Development :(13 to 19 years) During the stage of adolescence, moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity is recommended for at least 60 minutes and up to several hours every day . They should also indulge in muscle strengthening exercises at least three days per week . They should also include bone strengthening exercise.   Teenagers should reduce sedentary behaviour. Physical activity or exercise such as running ,gymnastic pushups ,jumping rope playing hockey, basketball swimming, tennis and resistance exercise should be included. Adulthood Growth and Development (Above 19 years): Adults should try to be active always . This should to brisk walking, bike riding ,dancing and swimming with moderate intensity . They should also indulge in running, aerobic exercise,weight training,push -ups, sit-ups etc. for muscle strengthening.  They should minimise the amount of time spent being sedentary . As a matter of fact, adults require such exercise or activities

Class-12 UNIT-Children and Women in Sports-Early and later Childhood Growth and Development

  Early childhood growth and development-(2 to 6 years): In this age the main concern is to develop gross motor development along with fine motor components.   The Children should be provided healthy playful area and special care should be given to diet, environment their habits, moral values recreational activities, etc. Activities for Early Childhood- Gross motor development activities are good in this age like running,, throwing, kicking, catching try cycle ride ladder ,climbing, wide stepping,etc Z Later Childhood Growth and Development (7 to 12 years): In this stage of childhood gross and fine motor development activities are performed. Activities for later childhood- The activities like yoga, Aasan athletic,gymnastic and swimming are good sports activities for this age group. Ball games like football basketball ,handball ,vollyball etc are helpful.
